How Your Wedding Stationery Gets Personalized: The ThornBloom Studio Process

You have found stationery that looks like it was illustrated for a fantasy novel: full-bleed artwork, low moody light, gold that glows against a dark ground. It is exactly the world you want your wedding to open into. And then the practical question surfaces: what do I actually have to do to get my names on it?
The short answer is: send them to us. ThornBloom Studio is a done-for-you studio. You choose a suite, you send your details, and the studio sets every piece and sends back print-perfect files. There is no software to learn, no account to set up, and no layout work waiting for you at eleven at night three weeks out.
This guide walks the whole path: what happens after you order, what the studio sets, what stays exactly as designed, what we need from you for each piece, and how printing works when the files arrive. If you are still choosing a style, start with our complete guide to dark fantasy wedding stationery and come back here when you know what you want.

What Done-For-You Actually Means
Most personalized wedding stationery sold online is sold as a file you set up yourself. Ours is not. The difference shows up in five places:

- Professional illustrated artwork from $79.99 for a complete six-piece suite: full-bleed scenes that would cost thousands to commission.
- Nothing to install, nothing to learn. You send your wording. That is the whole of your technical involvement.
- Every piece set by the studio. Names, dates, venue, wording, spacing, line breaks: set into the typography the artwork was built around, then proofed by a person before anything ships.
- A proof before anything is final. You see every piece as it will print, and you tell us what to change before we finalize a single file.
- Print-perfect files at the end. 300 DPI PDFs with bleed and trim marks, and most pieces can also be printed and shipped through the studio’s printing partners, by quote.
Couples who choose this are not settling for less control. They are trading the layout work for a studio that already knows how the artwork behaves, and redirecting a weekend into the venue, the flowers, or nothing at all. For a broader grounding in what stationery a wedding actually needs, our wedding stationery 101 covers the fundamentals.

The Four Steps, Start to Finish
Here is the whole process, from choosing a suite to holding printed cards.

Step 1: Choose Your Suite
Pick your realm first, then your tier. Two realms are open now: Enchanted Forest, all moss and firelight and gilded green, and Dark Romance, cathedral shadow in oxblood and plum. Midnight Celestial is opening next.
Within a realm, the tiers stack:
- The Essentials Suite: 6 pieces, $79.99. Invitation, save the date, RSVP, details card, and mobile versions of the invitation and save the date.
- The Reception Deluxe: 15 pieces, $149.99. Everything in Essentials, plus the reception table: menu, table numbers, place cards, favor tags, favor sign, food labels, bar menu, guest book sign, and cards and gifts sign.
- The Grand Wedding Suite: 27 pieces, $249.99. Everything in Reception Deluxe, plus the welcome sign, seating chart, program, timeline, unplugged sign, invitation wrap, envelope liner, envelope addressing, both thank you cards, and a ThornBloom wedding website.
- The Enchanted Forest Day-Of Suite: 13 pieces, $129.99, if the day itself is all you need.
- Digital Basic: 4 pieces, $59.99, for a paperless wedding.
A handful of pieces can be bought on their own, and nothing is locked behind a tier.
Step 2: Send Your Details
After you order, we ask you for the words. Names as you want them printed. Date and time. Venue name and address. RSVP method and deadline. Dress code, if you are setting one. Any wording you want carried across the suite: a line from a reading, a family name spelled a particular way, a phrase in another language.
There is no account to create and no form software to fight. If you are not sure how to word something (and almost nobody is sure about invitation wording the first time), tell us the situation and we will set it properly. Deciding who is “requesting the honour of your presence” is our problem, not yours.
Step 3: We Set Every Piece, You Approve a Proof
The studio sets your details into every piece you have ordered, not dropped into a box but set in the typography the artwork was designed around, with the spacing and line breaks balanced against the illustration behind them. A long venue name and a short one do not sit the same way, and that is the kind of judgement the studio makes on every piece.
Then you get a proof: every piece, as it will print. You read it with fresh eyes, check the spelling of your own surnames, check the RSVP date against your calendar, and tell us anything you want changed. Your proof arrives within 2 business days for pieces driven by names, date, venue and wording, since the clock starts when your wording reaches us, not on the day you order.
Nothing is finalized until you have approved it. Two rounds of revisions are included at this stage. If you’d like further changes after that, reply to your proof and we’ll talk it through. If anything on the proof doesn’t match what you sent us, that’s a studio error, and we fix it free, however many rounds it takes.

Step 4: Your Print-Perfect Files Arrive
Once you approve, we finalize and send your files. Every printed piece comes as a PDF at 300 DPI with bleed and trim marks, the professional specification, so a printer can cut to the edge and the artwork runs off the paper with no white border. Mobile pieces come as image files sized for phone screens and messaging apps.
The files are yours. If your guest count moves, send the studio the new number and ask for a quote on a fresh printed order.
What the Studio Sets, and What Stays Exactly As Designed
Clarity here removes the whole question.
We set for you:
- All wording, on every piece: names, dates, venue, times, RSVP details, menu items, sign copy, table labels, every word that appears anywhere in the suite
- The typography: sizing, spacing, line breaks and balance, set against the artwork rather than on top of it
- Wording conventions: formal or relaxed, host lines, courtesy titles, how a name reads when it is long
- Consistency across the suite, so the RSVP deadline on your details card and the one on your RSVP card can never disagree
Stays exactly as designed:
- The full-bleed illustrated artwork: the enchanted forest, the cathedral shadow, the starlit sky. It is the product.
- The palette. Every colour in a ThornBloom suite is chosen against the artwork and calibrated to hold up in print. Dark, saturated designs are the least forgiving thing you can put on paper, and the palettes are set where they are for that reason.
- The typeface pairings, which were drawn to sit with the illustration rather than beside it.
- Trim sizes, which are standard print dimensions so any printer can handle them.
You are commissioning a finished scene with your details set into it, not assembling one. That is why the invitation your guest opens looks exactly as composed as the one you fell for in the shop.
What We Need From You, Piece by Piece
Not every piece needs the same information from you, and a few need something you will not have until much closer to the date. Here is what to expect.

Invitations and Save the Dates
Your most detail-heavy pieces, and the ones worth thinking about first: names, date, time, venue, dress code, and sometimes a line of your own. Once the invitation wording is settled, everything else in the suite goes faster, because the decisions are already made.
RSVP Cards and Details Cards
Straightforward. The response deadline, how you want people to reply, meal or dietary options if you are offering them, and the practical details: accommodation, transport, registry, timings.

Menus, Bar Menus and Reception Signage
Send your caterer’s final menu and your bar list. Welcome signs, guest book signs, cards and gifts signs and unplugged signs usually need nothing beyond your names and date, so they are among the quickest pieces in the suite.

Table Numbers
Table numbers 1 to 20 arrive pre-made: illustrated, vine-wrapped, print-ready, and identical for every couple, so there is nothing to send us and nothing to wait for. If your floor plan runs past 20, add-on sets cover 21 to 30 and 31 to 40.
The Guest-List Pieces
Four pieces need something you almost certainly will not have when you order: an actual, final guest list.
- Place cards: one per guest, each with a name on it
- The seating chart: every name, arranged by table
- Envelope address templates: one per household
- Food labels, when you are labelling per guest rather than per dish
Nobody has a settled guest list months out, and the four pieces above cannot be set until you do. So they are handled as their own stage (Guest List & Seating) rather than holding up the rest: the rest of your suite is proofed and finalized without waiting on your list. Whenever you’re ready, send it and we start that stage. Because late RSVPs are universal, this stage gets a little more room: your proof arrives within 3 business days of us receiving your list, and two rounds of revision are included instead of one. There’s no deadline for sending it, and we accept guest-list details whenever you have them, even after the rest of your suite has shipped.
Practical advice regardless of timing: get your list into a single spreadsheet with one row per guest, exactly as you want each name printed. Middle names, courtesy titles, the aunt who goes by her second name: decide once, in one place. It is the single thing that makes the last month easier.

Printing Your Files
Digital delivery is the default: print ready PDFs and mobile ready JPGs, yours to keep, and most pieces can also be printed and shipped through the studio’s printing partners, by quote. Most of the lineup is also available printed and shipped, arranged through the studio’s printing partners. Email info@thornbloomstudio.com with your collection, suite or pieces, rough quantities, wedding date and destination, and we will reply with a quote. We ship to the United States and Canada only.

For the invitation wrap and envelope liners, ask the studio’s printing partners about specialty paper when you request your quote.
Whatever you choose, print one test piece first. Colours read differently on paper than on a backlit screen, and card weight is something you can only judge in the hand. One test piece before a run of 120 is the cheapest insurance in the whole process.
If You Would Rather Set It Up Yourself
Some couples genuinely enjoy this part, and want to sit with the file themselves at midnight moving a line by two millimetres. That is a real preference, and there is nothing wrong with it. It is simply not what this studio does.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to lay out my own wedding stationery?
No. ThornBloom is a done-for-you studio. You send your details and the studio sets every piece, sets the typography against the artwork, and sends back print-perfect files after a person proofs it. There is no software involved on your side and nothing to install.
How long does it take to get my proof?
Your proof arrives within 2 business days of us receiving that stage’s details, since the clock starts when your wording reaches us, not on your order date. The four guest-list pieces (place cards, seating chart, envelope address templates, and per-guest food labels) are their own stage, Guest List & Seating, and don’t hold up the rest of your suite. Once you send your final list, that stage gets a 3-business-day proof turnaround, since late RSVPs are universal. There’s no deadline for sending it, and we accept guest-list details whenever you’re ready.
What if something on the proof is wrong?
Tell us and we change it. Nothing is finalized until you have approved it, and a proof exists precisely so that the surname spelling and the RSVP date get caught on a screen rather than on 120 printed cards. Two rounds of revisions are included per stage (two on Guest List & Seating). Need more than that? Reply to your proof and we’ll talk it through. If the proof doesn’t match what you sent us, that’s our error and we fix it free, no matter how many rounds it takes.
Can the artwork or the colours be changed?
No, and that is deliberate. The illustrated scene is the product, and every colour in it is calibrated to reproduce properly in print. Dark, saturated designs are the least forgiving thing you can put on paper. Changing the palette is the fastest way to lose the depth that made the design worth having.
What files do I actually receive?
Printed pieces arrive as PDFs at 300 DPI with bleed and trim marks. Mobile pieces arrive as image files sized for phone screens and messaging apps.
What do you need from me?
Wording. Names as you want them printed, date, time, venue, RSVP details, dress code if you are setting one, plus your menu for the menu pieces. For place cards, the seating chart, envelope address templates and per-guest food labels, we also need your final guest list.
Do I need my guest list before I order?
No. Everything except the four guest-list pieces can be proofed and finalized without it, and those four wait for your list, with no deadline, since we accept details whenever they’re ready. Table numbers are pre-made 1 to 20, so they need nothing from you at all.
Where should I print my files?
Digital delivery is the default, with print ready PDFs included. Most of the lineup can also be printed and shipped through the studio’s printing partners. Email info@thornbloomstudio.com with your collection, suite or pieces, rough quantities, wedding date and destination, and we will reply with a quote. We ship to the United States and Canada.
Can I get the files re-issued if a detail changes?
Your files are yours to keep. If a detail on the stationery itself changes after everything is finalized, contact the studio. There is no expiry on your details, so you can send an update at any time. A change like this is treated as an extra revision round. Reply to your proof and we’ll talk it through, unless the issue was ours to begin with, in which case it’s free.
Ready to look properly?
